Villa Ripaud – Open for Bookings

At last. Villa Ripaud is ready for bookings. It’s taken a while.  Well, it feels like a while to us, but everyone else is amazed at how much we’ve achieved in such a very short time. 

We moved into our new home in January and work started on renovating and refurbishing the apartment in April.  In that time we’ve:

• Had a 9KW Photovoltaic solar system installed
• Installed air conditioning/heat units in each of the 4 bedrooms
• Installed geothermic water heaters
• Installed new lighting throughout
• Refurbished 4 en-suite shower rooms
• Painted and refreshed 4 bedrooms
• Sourced, collected and installed furniture in the 4 double bedrooms and a dining room (no mean feat to carry everything up 2 flights of stairs…)
• Fully landscaped, levelled out and extended the entire rear garden, laid a new decking area and installed a hot tub
• Cleared and prepared the front garden for guests
• Installed steps down to the swimming river

I say ‘we’ but the physical work was carried out mainly single-handedly by Gary, with some help from the boys. My contribution was decision making, designing, coordinating and chief money spender (I’m very good at that).

We also have a brand new website www.villaripaud.com which was created by our middle son James, under the watchful eye of his older brother Matt (www.mindfuldesign.me).  We’re really pleased with it. Well, done James.

I can’t tell you how happy we are with our new home.  Our watermill in the Haute-Garonne, took a lot of beating, but the scenery, climate and facilities here in the Languedoc have surpassed our expectations.  As some of you may know (if you’ve read my first book “What have we got Toulouse? A family moving to France”, Greece was our first choice to make our new home, but circumstances led us to France and our watermill southwest of Toulouse.  Now, after 17 years in Escanecrabe, we’ve moved further East to the Mediterranean coast, we really feel at home in these wonderful surroundings and climate.
